Strong man

Preston is a strong little man, he has been running a fever for the last couple of days and tonight it spiked to 105, so we brought the little man to the ER to find out he has and ear infection in his left ear. We had no clue and Preston did not give us any indication his ears were bothering him. He just go go go's with a couple of have it sprinkled in. j

A fun time

We had a great time trick or treating tonight, Went out early missed all the crowds not every house was giving candy but for Preston it was a success. He was able to climb every set of stairs we came to. The cutest thing was Preston gave Alexia a kiss good night. He breaking hearts and he's not even two. j

P

Our little man is growing, more words more moods expressions and faces. He is really sensitive some loud words by me can set into tears. Today I put a clear coat on a buffet table and Holly started to vac around while it was drying. So I yelled stop no vac Holly, this put him to tears.
I just the LM I am amazed on how he grows talks moves. He makes life fun and leaving wanting more. Its Halloween today Preston is a dragon. I'm very excited to walk the neighbor hood and watch Preston do his thing. j

No Fear

To night Preston Holly and I went down to the fair so Preston could enjoy some of the rides and enjoy did he. First he went on the wobbly boat and as it started to wobble Preston was all done off off. Next was the crazy bus and he loved that. Its a bus which spins in an upward and downward motion. The carousel was the next ride and is always his favorite. Giving the operator the ticket, picking his horse. He was all smiles with the wind blowing through his hair and a wave to Pappa. We ended the night with the Ferris wheel. Preston was more than happy to jump over, he could not get closer to the edge. I had him in a bear hug as he squirmed to get out of my arms to get a closer look. I was really worried if he got away from me he would have gone over. So as we went around and came to a stop we gracefully got off. j

Speaking

Preston is speaking so much these days and it seems he is learning 10 words a day. I have some flash card I show him and he is able to tell me what is on each of them. I'm so happy to hear him speak. j

Weeks change

Every week every day Preston changes. He become more amazing with every breath. We just got back from a trip to CA and he did so much. He pooped in the closet of our hotel room and said bye bye to it and closed the closet door. Played guitar hero, feed a giraffe. He is such a special little man. I love him so much. j

Boppa

On Monday Holly and I had a doctors appointment which we could not bring Preston too. We dropped him with our trusted friend Hartman around the corner. He walked right in to their house with not even much as a goodbye. When we came to pick him up I walk into the Colemans house and Preston comes running with arms out yelling Boppa Boppa Boppa. I almost cried. He really missed me, Hartman told me he waited at the window, when a car came by he would say Boppa. Love the ML and at the Doctors visit we found out Preston is going to have a little sister. Yeah!! j

The Big Man

Preston is changing from week to week. He is talking having conversations, playing by himself and is a big help around the house. I have learned you really need to include him in what ever you do. Let him help. He is so much a pleasure to take care off and to hang out with. Last night we went to Fire water in Providence. What Fun. The fires in the canal, there were statue people( a spartan, gargoyle and a lady in waiting) giving out wisdom they were so cool, Chinese lion-dragons dancing and a garden of blue lights. We danced on a dance floor to the salsa which Bubs loved. A real big Salsa fan. We had Del's lemonade which topped off our night. Fun was had by all. A super night with the fam.

Big Day

We picked up a Toddler Bed for the Bubs. Loves it, put it in his room, jumped right into it. The last couple of day Holly and I been trying to figure if we were going to let him use it. Tonight was the first night he did. He did get up three time until he fell asleep.
The other big event was going to the potty. The last couple of weeks we have been putting Preston on the potty and tonight was the first time he went. Holly and the Bubs were getting ready for the bath, Holly put him on the potty and make the pee-pee sound to go pee in the potty and he did go in the potty. Holly calls me over Jason, Jason, Jason. I come running to the story of Preston going pee in the potty. In celebration we all did the potty dance. So proud of the boy. J

beach

So we go to the beach around four five six o'clock. Holly Preston I play on the beach sometimes go in the water and use the play ground when we get a chance. Oh yes we have ice cream too. In the last couple of weeks in the morning Preston and I go on a walk around the block. On our way Preston will fall two to three times onto his knees thus scraping them. By now his knees are pretty scraped. At the play ground after a little swim Preston is walking up to the swing set when he falls on his knee the board walk. Crying as he gets up he soldiers back into the sand. There was nothing that could have stopped him, with the once scraped up knees which are now just raw with sand, crocidile tears in his eyes and two concerded parents asking how we can help. He gets up and back to business. The boy is a tropper. j

Toddler

I think it is official, the Bubs has grown from a baby into a toddler. He climbs on to the dinning room table to do some gardening when my back is turned and he knows he doing something wrong because when I catch him gardening on the dinning table he stops and tries to get away. Even though has has started to move a lot faster he is not that fast yet.
With words, he is pick up new ones everyday and words that Holly and I have not taught him. He just surprises us and now he is at the point where he is telling us to do stuff. The other night Holly has putting him to bed, singing him a song when all of a sudden he tells her to sit. Sit Mamma sit. j

New Ideas

Today I saw On the Edge, a movie about a runner who was thrown out of the running community for cashing in plane vouchers for the money. This was the way around being an armature athlete and getting paid and this guy wanted armature just to get paid. So in the movie he has not run a race in 20 years comes come to run this in CA and wins it while blowing up the unjust that was done to him. Been in my head since I was a kid and has inspired me through my running. I just found the name of it today. So in the past 20 years of my life there always has been something for me. College, photography, restaurants, primerica, wine buyer, these are all things I have done and none of them have really worked out for me. I have always come up short and when I did I would find myself running again. I have been running since I was 4 years old, off and on through high school, a year and half in college, three years in Oregon, six months in Oklahoma, five years in Boston. Now I'm back at it after six years, after getting married, moving to the northshore and having our first son. Whom I stay home and take care of.
So after all these years of nothing working out for me I fell like I'm drowning. I'm under the water I can see the surface but I can not reach it. Year after year, fired or quit I move onto something else that take up the space for a while but the consistent thing has been my running. I have learned I can not work for some one because I will get fired and I have tried to live the dreams of others and fell short. I always came back to running. I have always been good at it, never had to try, it just happened. I was fast. It was natural. As a kid watching the Ironman on tv I have always had a dream of being a triathlete. Knowing I am a fast runner and being fast as a bmx racer as a kid and a year of swimming in high school I felt I could do well as a triathlete. So when I moved to Boston I started to trained, raced and made great results. Now getting back into the sport I feel running is my key back. Since I started to train I want to give back and coach a high school cross country team. This is not possible for the next couple of years till the kids get older plus it does not pay well. But I feel I can give back to others. In the last couple of months I made a decision to educate myself on coaching. Now I'm ready to take my first coaching certification in cycling and plan to work on the others. I went to the wealth anex a couple of years ago. I saw Donald trump speak. He told a story about one of his friends son who worked with his father in realstate. He was horrible at it lost his father millions. When he was at a construction sit he was amazing, it was like a lite bulb went off. He love it, he was great at it and became highly successful and made his father millions. Trump said do want you love and the money will take care of it self. The new idea is to coach endurance athletes. I love to run, cycle and swim. I'm taking it slow. I really want to work it out, make a business out of it. Don't have a name for it, will have my first coaching license in the up coming weeks and will be coaching a cyclist for the up and coming cyclocross season. So injunction with building a triathlon team here on the northshore I think I will do well. I have been looking at other coaches, and business that offer services for athletes and how could I impact the community here on the northshore. Starting to have a vision of what this could be. So as I stay home and raise the kids I would to be able to help our family and help other all in the frame work of my life. This idea make me feel like I can breathe. j

Skipping the Potty

Preston got a Potty for his first birthday and since then he has sat on it a hand-full of times. Holly just went out to buy him a step stool and a training seat. Now he sits on the potty twice a day.So after lunch today as I was cleaning up, bubs walks out of the dinning room. I hear him in the bathroom, drop all what I'm doing and run in the to the bathroom to find him with training seat all set up and climbing onto the potty. Unfortunately he had already gone, but the ML is almost there just put the feeling of going and the potty and he will have it. I do hope it happens before February. More to come. j

Time Passes

It has been a bang up month with the bubs working his magic. A kiss to remember with hugs around the corner. So I was holding the bubs in the kitchen giving him kisses on the check. I turn my head for a second and as I turn back bubs reaches in to kiss me on the lips. I was a little surprised. Happy though to think my son sees my wife and I kiss all the time. He is learning from to people that love each other and this is why love to give hugs, the dog, Holly, Auntie Des and I. It's just very heart warming to walk into a room and have your son run up to you and hug you. j

weekend away

I spent this last weekend with some old friends in Las Vegas. Leaving my family was hard but I was excited to spend some time with guys. Now back home I can say I really missed them. Waiting at the airport was hard I really wanted to see my family. To see my wife and son. Now back taking care of Preston he seems to be bigger more vocal. Spending those days away enabled me see Preston not as my baby boy but my little man. He has grown to be a toddler. j

Turn

I turn around and what do I see but Preston climbing everything I see. The boy has found his climbing legs. He also runs too. The game is getting a little faster now and there is less margin error. Now if I could only get him to say his p's because I'm just a little tired of being called mamma. j

Climbing

A while back Preston started to climb on his chair. We would tell him to sit down so he would not fall and hurt himself. Months later Preston has become a little more adventurous. For weeks he has been contemplating climbing his highchair and has finally planted his flag at the top. He has only fallen once and at that time he just brushed himself off and climbed back up. There is a silver lining in this, Preston still listen when I tell him to sit down before he hurts himself. j

At Play

This morning Preston and I played truck. He would push the truck to me and me to him. We had a so much fun and on our walk with Lucy we found a beetle on the ground and with no hesitation Preston picks up the beetle and starts to play with it. I freak out thinking he might get bit by the beetle. I over reacted. Later in the day we hit the beach, we did not go prepared, we did not stay long. We stopped by the tank on the way to the Salem common to play a little more. J

A day of Trucks

In the past few weeks Prestons new world has been Truck. So we have had a blitz on all the construction in our area. We watched them move earth up at the Y, repair the side walks on our street. Any truck on the road will turn his little head. So we got him a book of trucks at the Barnes & Noble, he has not put it down yet. Truck Love. J

The pooo master

Going on 16 months and the boy has a handle on the potty. Sort of kinda knows the potty. He knows where the poo goes and to wave good bye when it is flushed. Today I come home from being lost to hear Preston had his first potty pooo.
While getting Preston 's bath ready Holly looks to see Preston what Preston is up to. She finds him peeing on the floor so she pops him onto the potty and say pee in the potty. She goes back to the bath and seconds later Preston is squat on the floor with two little poo's. To her surprise he picks up one poo and places it in the potty. Holly follows his lead and then into the big potty. As it is flushed away Preston waves good bye. The boy is getting to know his potty. Bye bye diapers. J

Weekend

Holly saw Preston play tucks this weeekend and more so grow a little. There are times when your child grows and you say "wow where has the time gone" and your child is 13 and then there are times where it happens right in-front of you. This was that weekend for Holly, the first time weekend. They went to the beach and made sun castles, swimming and blowing bubbles in the pool, kick kick kick, swim swim swim at the Y, stories stories stories and a double book thrown in, walks with the dog. A weekend to remember. j

Ouch!!

This weekend I sprained my ankle at an off-road duathlon and I want to thank my parents and sister for helping out. It has been a hard week, all I have been able to do is sit on the couch with my foot up and if it was not for my wonderful wife things would have been worse. She is a rockstar, a life preserver to a drowning man. Thank you Holly.
For the bubs, he is more active than ever. I learned to hobble on crutches real fast. Now with my foot getting better I think things will be back to normal (if you can call the normal) by next week. j

The Bubs is not in good shape,he has had so many poo's in the last couple of weeks his bumm has turned red. It hurts me to look at and pains me to change him. He is so happy even to the point when I have him on the changing table but touch the diaper and he is not happy. He has been a trooper through this and I pray it does not last any longer. j

Awesome

The Bubs is Awesome. He is getting older, more of a toddler now. He knows what he wants and where it is. He can communicate with his points and grunts. His words do seem to fail him, if he had them. He is only 14 months and maybe I'm just a eager parent, but it would be nice for not just us but Preston too. I do hope he starts soon. Like they say in their own time. j

Doggie days

Preston and I went to Auntie Des's House yesterday. She brought home a plott hound form a shelterand we wanted to be there when she brought him home. He still needs a name and we hope it is not Molson or Crosby. This was Preston first exposure to a puppy with razor sharp teeth. It did not take him long to learn not to put his hand in his mouth. Real cute puppy. He was also able to run with the dogs in her back yard and deck. Preston was also amused with feeding Zoe ice cubes. Auntie Des has a large cooler on her deck and Preston would grab an ice cube, run it over to Zoe and feed it to her. He would place down what he was holding and clap. Pick-up what ever he was hold and back to the cooler until he leaned a little too much to find himself face first in a cooler of ice water. I pull him out with no cries and a look of wow that's cold. All in all Preston loves to visit Auntie Des's. J

This is where the real love comes when scraping the soft yellow pooo from his under carriage and his leg. I was still able to use two wipes after the bath. J

Preston

It has been a big Year. Preston visited Syracuse University, New Jersey, Cleveland OH, and Seattle WA He has done a lot for man that was not even a year old. He started to walk on Christmas eve, I think it was all the tummy time. He enjoys a good book, we have make it through the first three Harry Potter book and we are now reading the goblet of fire. He has grown to 31 inches and 27 pounds, but I feel he is getting ready for another growth spurt because his weight and height has not change in the last three months. He is brandishing twelve teeth eight in the front and four molars. Two on the top and two on the bottom. People marvel how well he walks, a friend said the other day he has three different speeds. I can remember when he was just a small little guy still chunky but smaller than he is now. He has been real busy and i am excited to see him grow.j

Bubs is 1

With ringing the New Year there has been a lot of mile stones for the Bubs, he started to walk, he can point out the lights the dog and he knows what a mum-mum is. He love his toasty o's drinks out of a cup climbs stairs no he walks up stairs and has a mouth full of teeth not just the fronts but most of his molars. He can say daaaw-g, daa, and he said woof the other day. I was dumb founded. On his one year appointment he is in the 75%, he has not grown and has not gained weight in the last three months. But in his defense Bubs does laps around the house all day and he was just getting over a wicked stomach flu when they weighed him. I my self lost 10 pounds due to it.
Well I am very excited for year 2. To start potty training, to teach him words so when he talks ( because Bubs talks all the time ) we can understand him. It has been a great ride and there is more to come. j

Reading

Walking into Prestons room to find him seated on the floor with a book in his lap. I would say he was reading but he is only eleven months old and there were other words other than DA on the page. But he does like a good book. The lovely thing is he will pick out his favorites and bring them to me to read to him. He walks up with the book and a big smile, I'll say is that the book you want to read and he will hand it to me. I pick him up and plop him on my lap. We read the book together as he rocks back and forth. I read and he has the duty of turning the pages. Sometime while I am still reading. The Bubs loves his books. J
